Sport
In Holy Rosary, we engage in a wide range of activities as part of our PE curriculum. In addition to our regular PE lessons, we represent our school in athletics, Gaelic football, hurling, soccer, and rugby.
We are lucky to have a strong link with St. Pat’s GAA Club and have access to their GPO, Jack Keogh, who visits us weekly for coaching sessions. Throughout the year, we take part in Cumann na mBunscol competitions, where our pupils get the opportunity to wear our school jersey with pride as they compete with schools from across the county.
Athletics holds a special place in our school. Many of our pupils train after school with Vicky, and we have a proud tradition of success at various cross country and track and field events throughout the year. Participation is always high, and our athletes consistently achieve excellent results.
We also enjoy a close connection with our local rugby club. Jack Kearney visits regularly to deliver rugby sessions for our pupils, and we take part in several local tag rugby blitzes during the year.
Soccer is another hugely popular sport in our school. Our lunchtime soccer league generates huge excitement among the senior classes each year and culminates in the final, which the whole school attends. Now entering its fourth year, the league continues to grow in popularity - thanks to Mr. O’Sullivan for organising and coordinating the competition annually. In addition to our in-school league, we also compete in the FAI 5 a side competition each year, where our teams have performed exceptionally well.
