Author Workshop by Emily in 4th Class
Today we went to meet an author and illustrator Alan Nolan! Alan was born in Dublin, but he now lives in Bray with his wife and three children. He runs author and illustration workshops and does them around local libraries. That’s how we got to see him! We went to one of his writing and drawing workshops. We had to have lunch early so that we could get there in time.
First, we got into partners and walked down to the library. Next, we waited on the bottom floor until Alan was ready. After that we had to walk up loads of steps. After we climbed up all those steps, we finally got to meet Alan. Alan was one of the funniest people I’ve ever met! If Alan wasn’t an author and illustrator, I think he should have definitely been a comedian! Everyone in my class laughed at least twenty times!
Then, we got to learn a bit more about Alan. We learnt that he had an annoying sister who liked being mean to him. Sometimes she would sneak up on him and pin him to the ground! She also used to do the same thing in their mucky garden! Then she would say, “Want a yummy treat?” and then pick up a worm and pop it in his mouth!
After that he taught us how to draw a yeti from one of his books. Finally, he got to sign our pictures! It was really cool getting to have our one picture signed by a real author! We even got a class picture signed by him! I loved getting to meet an author and illustrator.
