Outdoor Classroom
We have developed an outdoor classroom at our school to:
With the support of Wicklow County Council Mental Health Small Grant Scheme, we have been able to create a beautiful outdoor classroom for our school. Every class in our school uses this space as a resource to support their learning in school.
- promote positive mental health and well-being of the children in our school
- foster learning through the interactions between emotions, actions and thoughts based on practical observation in an outdoor environment
- increase students’ physical, mental and social health by engaging with active learning outdoors
- identify and capitalise on the varied opportunities for learning that emerge from children’s interactions with the outdoor setting
- support our work with the School Completion Programme by creating another area that promotes the positive aspects of education
- teach children that we all have a responsibility to take care of this beautiful world.
