Aistear
Aistear is the early childhood curriculum framework for all children from birth to 6 years in Ireland. It is all about incorporating play into the curriculum for infant classes The framework uses four interconnected themes to describe children's learning and development: well-being, identity and belonging, communicating, and exploring and thinking.
The implementation of the Aistear Curriculum allows the class teacher the opportunity to identify children displaying social difficulties and overly engaging in solitary play. The class teacher can then intervene by modelling the appropriate language and behaviours necessary to enter and engage in play.
All of the infant classes in our school engage with the Aistear programme. We love to play and learn together in our school!

Green Schools
As part of the Green School Flag programme, schools are invited to complete projects on the themes of Litter and Waste, Energy, Water, Travel, Biodiversity and Global Citizenship.
In 2021 our school was awarded a Green Schools Flag for our work on Litter and Waste. Boys and girls from our senior classes form our Green Schools Committee and lead the entire school community in a project that aligns with the ideals of the green schools’ programme. We are very proud of the work our school does as part of our commitment to helping protect our environment.

I.T.
Our school is currently on a journey to enhance the I.T. infrastructure in our school.
We are striving to become a Digital School of Distinction and we want all of our
pupils to become proficient with digital literacy and I.T. skills.
Every classroom in our school has an interactive whiteboard. In 2021 eight of these
were upgraded to cutting edge Smart Touch boards. Each teacher is equipped with a
laptop and tablet device so that she/he has the necessary tools to introduce digital
literacy to the curriculum in their classroom.
Pupils have access to our new class set of 24 Chromebooks. Over the next few
years, we will be building our suite of I.T. devices available in school. We will also be
developing our IT Plan to enhance the digital learning experiences for our pupils.
Holy Rosary School makes every effort to maintain strong home-school links. I.T.
helps us in this regard through the use of Aladdin, SeeSaw and G-Suite for
Education. The use of these I. T. platforms helps us to communicate with home and
to create a window for parents into the world of the classroom!
