‘The Woods’ (Classes for Children with Autism)
In our school we are lucky to have an Early Intervention Class for children with autism which we call Willow Room. We also have a school age class for children with autism which we call Holly Room. Together these classes make up the area of our school known as ‘The Woods’.
Together with two purpose-built classrooms, the children in Willow Room and Holly Room also have access to a sensory room, swing room, quiet area, ball pit and two fabulous outdoor play areas.
In our school we are committed to inclusion and celebrating the uniqueness of every individual pupil in our school. All our mainstream classes have a poster of a tree on their classroom door. Through these posters we are delivering the message that while we all have different labels and belong to different classes, we are all part of the one inclusive school. ‘The Woods’ is an integral and important part of our school.
